A very high quality blue and white lidded tureen decorated with a blue crest on the lid and base. The handles have been fashioned into stylised branches and foliage and are highlighted in gold handpainting.
On the bottom it is marked for the retailer Thomas Sharpus & Co, 13 Cockspur Street, London. There is also an impressed maker's mark on the lid and base which is two initials I can't read followed by '& Co'
The dish is in excellent condition, just a small chip on the underside of the lid (see last image)
